SPA officer Nominations & Elections on May 6, 2013

Sturgis Parents,

SPA officer nominations and elections will be May 6th at the regular SPA meeting held at East. The nominating Committee is currently interviewing candidates for the officer positions: President, VP East, VP West, Treasurer, and Secretary. (All committee members will be appointed by the new President and approved by the SPA membership,) If you have interest in applying for an officer position, please respond to our contacts below soon so we can have an interview and wrap up our slate by 4/29/13. Our slate will then be presented to the SPA members for approval and vote at the May 6th meeting.

The election will have the entire slate, as a whole, for a yay or nay vote.

Voting members will be:

1. Sturgis Parents who have paid $20.00 to date for SPA membership

OR

2. Those who have attended at least three SPA meetings in the last school year
AND participated in at least one SPA coordinated event, (ie. Sports banquets, Arts Festival, SPAuction, etc.)

The committee stressed the value of maintaining success and continuity of SPA by choosing officers who demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and dedication to the mission of SPA and the Sturgis Community.

Our recommendations will be reviewed at the SPA meeting and the elections will be held subsequently.

Please call Paula Sweetman (508-420-3075) or Dave Kaczmarzcyk (508-737-05960 with any nominations or questions.

Sincerely,

Tom Fink, SPA President

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the event. It is important to sell as many advance tickets as possible so we can give the host facility an accurate headcount and so we can pre-register guests to make check-in run quickly. Tickets can be purchased at the East and West offices, from members of SPA or by emailing or calling any volunteer.  We are also happy to receive additional auction donations.

2013 Auction information

For the last 4 months a group of about 30 dedicated volunteers have been hard at work planning the 2013 SPAuction. The fruits of our labor will be presented in just a few weeks on Saturday, April 6, at the Hyannis Resort and Conference Center from 6 – 10pm.

It is imperative that all Sturgis parents attend this event as it is the biggest fundraiser the parents will do all year – for Sturgis East and West. Last year’s Auction was a huge success as a great social event as well as a great fundraiser. Auction items range in price from $15 to priceless. There will be something for everyone and many items last year sold for below face value, so there could be lots of bargains!

Here is what you can do to help us:

  • Attend the event. Tickets are only $25 and include a light buffet and a cash bar. Tickets are available at both school offices, or you can contact us directly to reserve tickets for you.
  • If you have auction donations please get them to us. If you need us to pick them up we’ll do it, just let us know. Otherwise you can bring them to the office.

Please realize that this is more than just an auction. It will be the one opportunity all year for a majority of Sturgis parents to get together in a social setting – and it’s all for a great cause! We will have raffles, games, a Live and Silent Auction, light buffet and a cash bar.

Please come on April 6th and show your support for all of our Sturgis children!

Thank you!

1 Week Stay in the Bahamas!

bahamasFeatured Auction Item: 1 Week Stay at a Private Beach House in the Bahamas

Will this winter ever end??  Well, next year at this time you could be far, far away from this mess if you come to the auction and successfully bid on this item.  Close your eyes and think of the warm sands of a private beach in Nassau – waves gently lapping the shore, the ultra fine sand massaging the bottoms of your feet as you amble the pristine beach hunting out exotic shells for your collection. The biggest decision you will make today is margaritas or daiquiris? This can be you and seven of your nearest and dearest peeps when you walk away from the SPAuction as the winning bidder of a private beachside bungalow on Long Island, Nassau, Bahamas. Generously donated by the Caldwell family, this newly built vacation retreat features all the amenities including state of the art appliances, plasma TV, Bose sound system, margarita machine, large deck overlooking the private beach, and 4 bedrooms that comfortably sleep eight people. Don’t take our word for it, see for yourself at www.theospreysnest.com.

At last year’s auction this amazing opportunity sold below market value. Don’t be caught staring at the person next to you saying, “I can’t believe we didn’t buy that!” Come prepared! Go for it! You deserve it! See you at the auction where we will be accepting VISA, MC, checks, cash or a truckload of S&H Greenstamps.
