2012 Expenditure Update

SPA-raised funds are used for many events and functions. SPA has:

  • provided coffee and supplies for teachers;
  • supplied food for orientation;
  • provided water and snacks for MCAS;
  • 6 scholarships for students at $500 each;
  • given money for Prom entertainment;
  • paid to frame the Chinese scroll that was gifted to our school after their visit;
  • set aside money for buses to transport students on field trips to Town Neck Beach and the New Bedford Whaling Museum;
  • provided funds for density cubes, a bicycle stand and WII interactive technology;
  • and gave money towards the Benevolent Fund for Needy Students

With the help of dedicated parents we will continue to raise money to help worthy causes involving Sturgis.

Auction item of the week

1 Week Stay at a Private Beach House in the Bahamas

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we’ve had a mild winter… but it’s still damp and raw and bleak outside!  Close your eyes and think of the warm sands of a private beach in Nassau – waves gently lapping the shore, the ultra fine sand massaging the bottoms of your feet as you amble the pristine beach hunting out exotic shells for your collection.  The biggest decision you will make today is margaritas or daiquiris? This can be you and seven of your nearest and dearest peeps when you walk away from the SPAuction as the winning bidder of a private beachside bungalow on Long Island, Nassau, Bahamas.  Generously donated by the Caldwell family, this newly built vacation retreat features all the amenities including state of the art appliances, plasma TV, Bose sound system, margarita machine, large deck overlooking the private beach, and 4 bedrooms that comfortably sleep eight people.  Don’t take our word for it, see for yourself at www.theospreysnest.com.

At last year’s auction this amazing opportunity sold for a fraction of its actual value.  Don’t be caught staring at the person next to you saying, “I can’t believe we didn’t buy that!”  Come prepared!  Go for it! You deserve it!  See you at the auction where we will be accepting VISA, MC, checks, cash or a truckload of S&H Greenstamps.

LUNCH WITH A LEGEND

Bill LeeOkay, here’s a trivia question for all you true Red Sox fans out there: Which Red Sox starting pitcher had a 3 – 0 lead in the fifth inning of game 7 in the 1975 World Series against the Reds when he had to leave the game with a blister on his throwing hand? Hint: He holds the record for the most games pitched (321) by a Red Sox left-hander and is a member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame. You guessed it – the Spaceman, Bill Lee! The Sturgis Auction is proud to offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the winning bidder and 3 friends to have lunch with Bill this Spring in Chatham. Bill can regale the 4 of you with his stories of the wild days in baseball when the Red Sox were known as much for their crazy cast of characters as they were for their pennant races. Always the Renaissance Man, Bill can expound on any and all topics and be warned, as the author of four books he has a lot of opinions. Plan ahead and don’t leave the auction without this chance to break bread with a true legend in our lifetime!

SPAuction FUNdraising Social

for Sturgis East and West:
March 3, 2012 from 6-10pm

Cape Cod Resort and Conference Center, West End Rotary Hyannis

The Auction Committee is pleased to announce the 2012 SPAuction will be held on Saturday, March 3, at the Cape Cod Resort and Conference Center at the West End Rotary in Hyannis. It will be a great night for Sturgis and East and West Parent to come together, socializing, for a great cause. All proceeds will benefit SPA sponsored programs and activities. Last year’s SPAuction was a huge success raising over $22,000 with approximately 175 guests packing our venue. This year we are welcoming our new school and plan an even larger turnout. We are thrilled to have the Cape Cod Resort and Conference Center host us in their spacious, well-appointed upstairs function room.

SPAuction will feature raffles, games, a Live and Silent Auction as well as many other surprises. The Cape Cod Resort and Conference Center will cater hors d’oeuvres and provide a cash bar. Tickets to the event are $15 per person advance purchase and $20 per person the night of the event. Festivities will begin at 6:00pm and wind down around 10:00pm.

Save the date, book a sitter and plan to bid on over a hundred items and prizes that you would normally buy anyway. We will have vacations, services, gift items, décor, sports memorabilia, event tickets and “Once in a Lifetime” experiences. You don’t want to miss it! Ask anyone that attended last year’s event. This opportunity only happens once a year! And all the FUNdraising helps our schools and our children.
